About

Education through Podcasting (EPOD) is a new conference series cementing a partnership between Routledge, Morley College, York St John University, Keele University and the SoundLearnings Podcast. Academics, researchers and practitioners will find a forum to share and disseminate their research and experience of teaching, learning and training through the use of podcasts. All speakers at the conference will be given the opportunity to write up their presentation into a chapter for the proceedings book published by Routledge.

Themes of the conference include, but are not limited to:
audio as a medium for education
Specific audio developments that have influenced the podcasting space
Historic or contextual developments of podcasting as a learning environment
Standards, standardisation, and the controversy around RSS feeds
Explorations of definitions and concepts and delineations (for example: radio and podcasting)
Blended, Online, Mixed Mode, Digital: Educational environments, its pedagogical trends and how audio fits into this picture
Discourses around the educational aspects of public vs private in the podcast space
Explorations of issues related to intellectual property in educational podcastingCase studies of good practice
Case studies in podcasting and community learning
Case studies in discipline-specific uses of podcasting in education (e.g. in Theatre, Music, Storytelling and Creative Writing, Forensic Science and True Crime, Philosophy, Journalism and Podcasting, Media Production, Audio, Music Technology and Music Production)

** Submissions **

please submit 300-500 word abstracts to epod@morleycollege.ac.uk by 02/02/2024

Paper abstracts of 300-500 words will be reviewed for inclusion in the conference programme. After the conference, presenting authors will be expected to submit a full paper for peer review for consideration within a Routledge book of proceedings.
