Call for Papers 2023 – Music, Audio, Radio and Sound (MARS) IAMCR 2023 Inhabiting the planetChallenges for media, communication and beyondThe IAMCR’s Working Group MARS invites submissions for its sessions at the IAMCR 2023. The deadline to submit abstracts is 9 February 2023 at 23h59 UTC. Contributing to the conference: OCP2023 and Lyon2023There will be two ways of joining IAMCR2023: If you are not able to or don’t want to join the face-to-face conference in Lyon but do want to submit an online-only paper, submit your abstract to OCP2023 only. If accepted, you’ll later submit your full paper (1,000 to 4,000 words) to the online platform, which will be open for discussion from 26 June to 5 July.If you do want to join the face-to-face event, submit your abstract to OCP2023 andLyon2023. If accepted, you’ll submit your paper to the online platform and present it at the face-to-face conference. 
Five sub-themes have been identified for the 2023 IAMCR Conference: Humanity and progressDemocracyMedia, information and communicationCities and territoriesEnvironmental accountability 
The MARS Working Group invites submissions relating to the main IAMCR 2023 theme as well as work addressing the following (but not limited to): audio-based production practices (professional and amateur), content, industries, technologies, platforms, distribution, audiences and reception practices.
These are some of the possible topics: Sound narrativesSound activismDatafication of sound industriesMusic and podcastingPodcast industries and communitiesMicro-radio and ultra-local podcastSound and power: political economy of sound, radio, podcasting and audio industriesMusic and audio diversityMusic industries: synergies, interactions, structuresAudio and gender in a digital environmentAudio-based Artificial intelligence (AI)Trust and authenticity in audio-based contentMethodological and theoretical approaches for audio-based researchLanguagesMARS accepts abstract submissions in English and Spanish.
  Guidelines for abstractsAbstracts should have between 300 and 500 words and must be submitted online at Abstracts submitted by email will not be accepted. The deadline to submit abstracts is 9 February 2023 at 23h59 UTC.
No more than one (1) abstract can be submitted by an author to the MARS Working Group. Please note also that the same abstract or another version with minor variations in title or content must not be submitted to more than one section or working group. Any such submissions will be deemed to be in breach of the conference guidelines and will be rejected.
Proposals are accepted for both single Papers and for Panels with several papers (in which you propose multiple papers that address a single theme). Please note that there are special procedures for submitting panel proposals.
